On the occasion of the 5th anniversary of the death of René Angelil, Céline Dion published a moving message on her Instagram account on Friday January 14, 2022, in order to pay tribute to the father of her children.
Mainly known for having been the artistic agent, as well as the husband of Celine Dion, René Angelil died on January 14, 2016 in Las Vegas, at the age of 73. Suffering from throat cancer in 1999, he had managed to recover, before having to undergo the removal of a cancerous tumor in the throat in 2013. In convalescence, René Angelil finally died of the consequences of his cancer, only 2 days before being able to celebrate his 74th birthday. Afterwards, Celine Dion’s husband was entitled to a state funeral in Quebec.
His funeral was celebrated on January 22, 2016 in the Notre-Dame basilica in Montreal. This was a highly symbolic place, given that it was exactly the same place as his marriage to Celine Dion was celebrated in December 1994. As a reminder, the funeral ceremony in honor of René Angelil was broadcast simultaneously on all continuous information networks in Quebec. On the occasion of the 5th anniversary of his death, Celine Dion wanted to pay tribute to him once again, through a vibrant message posted on his Instagram account on Friday January 14, 2022.

Translated into French, it gives: “I would be lying if I said I was fine. I think of you at least a hundred times, because in the echo of my voice, I hear your words as if you were there. I miss you“. For the record, René Angelil had discovered Céline Dion in 1981. Already the father of 3 children from his two previous marriages with Denise Duquette and Anne Renée, he gave birth to 3 boys with the singer. The first, named René-Charles, was born on January 25, 2001. Subsequently, the couple will give birth to twins, Eddy and Nelson, on October 23, 2010.
